What happens when you have a day off in the middle of the week and want to go to LA? You hit up your friend, Tricia, in hopes that she will hop on board with your shenanigans with no real plan in mind and just a half-way-thought-out-plan to meet with someone over coffee. And well lucky for me, she made the trip so much more enjoyable than if I were to go alone! From gallivanting over yonder to checking out the Broad, it was just a dope spontaneous trip that I couldn’t be more thankful for. So here’s a little recap on that spontaneous trip to LA with Tricia.
KazuNori Sushi & Verve Coffee
A friend, Abel, suggested we check out KazuNori – a hand roll sushi bar. And we were not disappointed! Their concept is definitely different and a nice surprise from your usual sit down restaurant. Upon walking in, we found ourselves standing in line with hand held menus to our right. And immediately in front of us was a huge bar seating area where people were enjoying their sushi. Not just any sushi, but hand rolls and sashimi! I really enjoyed the experience and overall, the rolls we got were super fresh and I couldn’t help but crave more!
Afterwards, we went to Verve Coffee just about a half mile walk away. I’ve always been a fan of Verve so I was really excited to get my hands on another cup (and a much needed second wind). I got myself The Missle – their cold brew concoction with their sweetener and it was delicious! I definitely recommend checking out Verve if you’re in need of some greenery, caffeine, juice, and inspiration! So good!
The Broad & Then Some
I’ve been meaning to check out The Broad Museum for quite some time since it opened last year, and never got the chance until now. Since we had some time, we decided to drive over there and check things out! Since Tricia has been there before, she kind of just let me do my thing and peruse. And WOW, The Broad was just amazing! Everything from Warhol, Basquiat, and Koons… I felt like I was in heaven.
After checking out The Broad, we had the opportunity to meet with Fred, an amazingly talented director, over coffee (for a future Coffee & Convos post) at Alfred Coffee, but since they closed early we ended up walking over to Urth Caffe. We also got to enjoy some pizza and some bomb dessert (an Earl Grey Tiramisu to be exact) while we were there, so that just added to the amazingness!
A big chunk of the day I didn’t get to capture because I was spent enjoying the moment and just trying not to laugh too hard at Tricia‘s jokes. I honestly don’t know how I end up having so many great people around me, and Tricia is no exception. From conversations that made the two hour drive pass by so quickly, to brainstorming our creative ventures, and laughing so hard we just could not… She made the LA trip what it was – a shit load of fun!
