I am so excited to kick off these new series I’m calling “Wandering on Rooftops,” where I share my favorite rooftop experiences in San Diego and the places I travel to! To start off, I’ll be sharing one of my favorite gems, The Rooftop by STK at Andaz San Diego! Long story short, I love rooftops and I’m surprised not many people talk about the rooftops here in San Diego and all the great things that come about! One of my favorite things being the lounge areas and stunning views, which is why The Rooftop by STK is the first on my list!
My Rooftop Experience
Sitting atop Andaz San Diego, such a stunning hotel that also has my favorite coffee from MeKa Coffee btw, The Rooftop by STK is a gorgeous rooftop restaurant and bar. I personally love going there during the day to enjoy their breakfast or lunch menu! They have poolside cabanas you can reserve and lounge in to have your breakfast and lunch mimosas by (perfect for you and bunch of friends), and several lounge areas to chill and enjoy their signature pineapple drinks (perfect for more intimate interactions).
I’ve taken my coffee from MeKa coffee to the rooftop to enjoy the views and it’s such a nice experience. I’ve also had my share of their delicious breakfast menu and I love that their menu is creative and inspired by SoCal flavors!
First up, let’s chat cabanas! If you’re looking to host a poolside gathering, this is THE spot. Not only is it super affordable (especially for those who are not staying at the hotel), but it’s super cute and has a great view of San Diego! I’m not a huge pool person (I can’t swim), but there is a pool just in front of the cabanas where you can sneak a quick dip in and chill in the cabanas for the rest of the day! Not a bad way to chill if you ask me.
As I mentioned earlier, the food here — delicious! I opted for their chilaquiles, my go-to anywhere I grab breakfast! Their Chicken Chilaquiles Verdes comes with jidori chicken, salsa verde, queso fresco, and eggs any style. I usually go with scrambled, and I loooved my meal! I also opted for their Smoked Salmon and Bagel which comes with capers, red onion, tomato, and cream cheese. I love how it all came separately so I could build my bagel to my liking, and needless to say – SO GOOD!
I typically love to enjoy a nice breakfast or brunch, and they have an expansive menu of breakfast and lunch items you can choose from when you feel like you want to indulge!
They have these stunning signature drinks served in a pineapple, and the one I got was called Punchy Pinas which comes with Mt. Gay Black Barrel, Sailor Jerry, allspice, mint lemon, and ginger beer — all served in a pineapple! It was like a tasty Moscow Mule, and I loved it! Not to mention, who doesn’t love a cute cup!?
They also have bottle service and a mimosa set up great for a night out or brunch by the cabanas! Either way, they have libations for everyone, and I love how they make it an experience for you! I truly had such a blast and I’m excited to begin sharing more rooftop experiences much like this one! The hospitality at Andaz is incomparable and I love how central it is in Downtown that if I need to go anywhere else, it’s just a few block walk or a bird scooter ride away!
Who else is excited for this Wandering on Rooftops series?! Let me know what other rooftops I should check out!
