I’ve had my share of reading Goosebumps and watching Scooby Doo growing up, and I’ve always wanted to be a part of the mystery solving gang. So it’s only natural that I would dive for the opportunity to go to a Murder Mystery Dinner. And that’s exactly what I did! Luckily I didn’t delve into the venture alone, and was lucky enough to have my good friend, Kelsey join in on the shenanigans. And it was a blast! Who knew solving murder mysteries over dinner would be so much fun?
Midnight at the Masquerade
With any murder mystery dinner, there of course there would be a theme, and the one I wanted to attend happened to be Midnight at the Masquerade. People were dressed to the 9’s with a masquerade mask to match and it was great to be able to join in on the fun! Thankfully it was around Halloween time, so Kelsey and I got some last minute masks and headed over!
The dinner itself started at 6 and even after being a little late (because our lovely after work traffic in San Diego), they let us in at The Spaghetti Factory in Downtown! We walked in, were greeted by the actors, found our seats, and took photos before the show began.
Dining with Entertainment
So what’s a Murder Mystery Dinner you ask? It’s basically exactly what it sounds like, and the best part of the whole experience was getting to be a part of the show! After enjoying our first course, that’s when the show began with the murder just a few moments after. We were seated with strangers at a table with fake money, rules, and a few guides that would help us solve the mystery of who murdered who.
I can’t give away all of the fun, but it was great to enjoy some food, sip on a sangria, and be interactive with both the actors and other dinner attendees as we tried to solve the mystery. It truly was an experience of dining and entertainment and it was so much fun! Sadly, we did not solve the murder, but it was a great time nonetheless!
Check Them Out
Website: Murder Mystery Dinner San Diego
They have two locations that participate in these monthly public shows, The Old Spaghetti Factory in both North County and Downtown San Diego. And they can even host a private event at a venue of your choosing, which is another great option if you’re looking to do something for your family or your workplace! (PSST… There’s a show happening in December, so look into checking them out!)
All in all, it was quite an unforgettable experience and is perfect for dates, or even a gathering for a group of friends! If you check out a public show, you won’t be disappointed! I highly recommend experiencing it because you’re bound to have a killer time! GET IT!? Ha!
And for those who live in a different area other than San Diego, don’t fret! Check out the Murder Mystery Co site to find a place near you!
Thank you, Tom, for the opportunity!
