It’s okay to not be okay.
You’re doing great. And you may not be going at the pace you feel like you know you could be, but you’re still making moves. Let’s be real, it’s all about those little wins and baby steps. It’s the start of a new month and yeah it’s that time of year we all wish we had a boo to spend Valentine’s Day with, but you gotta focus on the bigger picture. It’s time to channel those feelings of vulnerability, love, and joy and share it with those who are already in your life. Strengthen those bonds with your close friends, and continue to be inspired by them.
January was a wild ride. You accomplished so much in a short amount of time, and you should be fucking proud! You had your first talk in front of an audience, threw your first event for Coffee & Convos alongside Olukai and TKay2, and even launched a podcast with Nancy all within the same week. All of the hard work, all of the tireless nights, all of it came together and it was amazing! Never sell yourself short. If anything, fill up your own cup. And let that overflow.
I know you imagine yourself living this lifestyle, building this as your career, and ultimately growing into the entrepreneur you’ve always dreamed yourself to be. Never lose sight of that. That vision? That dream? That goal? They’re all within reach if you to continue to put in work. Just never forget to find your center within yourself and make yourself a priority, even though it’s difficult as fuck. That mental breakdown you had? Yeah, there will most likely be more of those. It’s a process you’re slowly going to have to endure, and just know it’s temporary. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to not be okay. Most importantly?
Remember to love yourself.
Remember these words. Let them continue ring through your soul until you finally feel its truth. Remember that self-love is so important, and you have to continue to water the seed within you to flourish. I know there are times when you feel like you aren’t good enough, you don’t fit in those size 6 jeans anymore, and you don’t see the beauty you withhold. But know that you are enough, you are incredibly loved, and you have so much potential!
Life is a crazy ride, and you’ve gone through it all to know that there will be loops, dead ends, and bumps along the road, but shit… Don’t let that discourage you. You are on this never ending journey to self-love and I can see you growing day by day into the woman you’re bound to become. She’s there, within you, ready to take on the world!
Read this poem again if you need another reminder:
Once when I was running,
from all that haunted me;
to the dark I was succumbing–
to what hurt unbearably.
Searching for the one thing,
that would set my sad soul free.
In time I stumbled upon it,
an inner calm and piece;
and now I am beginning,
to see and to believe,
in who I am becoming–
and all I’ve yet to be.
– Lang Leav, The Universe Inside Us, ‘Self-Love’
It’s only the beginning, and you’re on the right track. Continue to embrace the love you feel (and don’t deny it!), continue to seek love and light, and remember that you are enough.
