Summer has officially commenced! And though San Diego’s weather would like to disagree (darn you, June Gloom!), there are a few things I’m definitely looking forward to doing. Here’s a list I compiled, with a few things inspired by the lovely Avery Johnson and Tiff of Rest is Her Story.
Take a Road Trip: I’ve been having all the wanderlust feels ever since I came back from my recent road trip to Arizona. And I’ve been zero-ing in one of the places I’ve been DYING to go to, which is Big Sur. I’d love to take Highway 1 all the way up just for a few days and indulge in the lush scenery. I’m definitely crossing my fingers that I can do this in the next month *hint hint* Any takers!?
Go to the Del Mar Fair: ✓ If It’s anything I love it’s the fair! I look forward to it all year just for the food and the good times. Yes, everything costs about an arm and a leg – but hey, it only comes around once a year. And it’s always fun to try something new while there! A few of my favorites are the porkabello mushrooms and the Mexican funnel cake!
Have a Bonfire: ✓ Nothing says summer like a good old fashioned bonfire. Whether by the beach or at somebody’s house… I love me a good s’more enjoyed alongside good company. And not gonna lie, I kind of really love the smokey smell that lingers after a bonfire.
Go to a Baseball Game: I have to be the worst at attending sports events, but when I do get to go to a baseball game – it’s probably one of the funnest times! Super stoked to attend a Padres game this season, alongside some good eats and drinks -mmm, garlic fries!
Try Paddleboarding or Kayaking: ✓ A good friend of mine took a class last semester doing it, and seeing her photos and hearing her stories totally inspires me to get on board (literally! Get it?). Not to mention how fun would it be to go kayaking?
Bike/Skate Around Mission Beach: To just spend a day cruising by the beach would completely make my day. We can do nothing or everything, but as long as I get to cruise and check out the view on a clear day, that would be the cherry on top!
Read More Books: Lately, I haven’t had the time to pick up a book and read. I have so many books piled up ready to be cracked open and read, and I have a few more I want to get my hands on. I’m definitely looking forward to reading at least 3 books this summer. Thanks, Avery for the suggestion!
Have Picnics Galore: Picnics are definitely one of my favorite past times. It’s awesome just to get together with some good friends, enjoy yummy food, and chat. I can sit or lay on the picnic blanket, sip on a lemonade, and jam out to some music, and it’s perfect.
Connect and Reconnect with People: I’m guilty of being a homebody, especially during the summertime when all I want to do is lounge in little to no clothing, with the AC blasting, and with Netflix playing – amiright!? But I really love connecting with people and just chatting about, so I want to make it a point to FINALLY get coffee with those I said I would get coffee with, and meet up with a few lovely people as well.
Summer, let’s do this!
