I finally made it out to the Museum of Ice Cream last week with Ian and it’s pretty much everything you’ve seen in photos. Every inch of the place was “Instagram Worthy” and just as pink and bright as possible. Beforehand, we got to check out Petersen Auto Museum (so Ian would be happy since I was dragging him along to the MOIC lol), so it was definitely an eventful day at the museum. But was Museum of Ice Cream worth it? Read on to find out!
What is the Museum of Ice Cream?
If you’re not familiar with the Museum of Ice Cream, it’s exactly as it sounds – a museum full of ice cream and anything ice cream related. And did I mention there’s complimentary ice cream throughout the different exhibits? Yeah, pretty much a win-win! Their website even states it’s a place where “ideas are transformed into real life experiences, a place where flavors a mystery, toppings are toys, and sprinkles make the world better place.”
My experience at the Museum of Ice Cream was definitely a lot of fun! It was a tad different since my extroverted-self decided to be the star of the show and be her awkward self. As soon as we entered, we were told we can always enter the next room, we just can’t go back. Being that the case, any photos we wanted had to be taken and with a line of people waiting! So you can imagine these banana swings I didn’t even know how to act.
Regardless, it was fun and we got to eat some ice cream and treats, I think my favorite was the gummy bear room where we had to work for our treats – either by having a dance party or by sharing a fun fact about ourselves, you already we were dancing for it!
Was it Worth it?
All in all the experience was okay. In my opinion, it was way over-hyped and for the trouble of me fighting for a time slot before they sold out was a little too much for me especially since we’re coming all the way from San Diego and there was no way to exchange times or refund it in case anything were to happen. The pricing was decent for what it was, but I did expect a lot more. I’ve seen through other people’s experiences there was a lot more ice cream and we maybe only got 3 small ice cream samples and a few treats, but it didn’t look like what other people have gotten from what I’ve seen.
Nonetheless, it was fun, each room was unique and had something you can take photos with and you can take as long as you’d like until moving onto the next room. Was it worth it? Honestly, no. I feel like we maybe spent 45 minutes there in total and I thought there’d be more ice cream (but that’s just me because I love ice cream lol). But everyone has their own opinion and I know people who’ve loved it! And let’s be real, who doesn’t want awesome insta-worthy pics in the sprinkle pool, amirite!?
If you had a chance to check it out, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
