THIS IS A PSA: Shake Shack is now open in Los Angeles!
Shake Shack, as I’m sure you all know, is a well established burger empire that started in the East Coast. They have a strong presence and have expanded several Shake Shacks across the country finally making their way here to the West Coast. From my knowledge the closest Shake Shack before this location opening would be Las Vegas, and I haven’t made my way over there to try it. I’ve only heard about the dreamy things Shake Shack offers… Their delicious burgers, the perfection of their crinkle cut fries, and of course – their amazing shakes!
They opened their first location in California, and more specifically in West Hollywood (also, one of my favorite places to visit in LA – it’s so much fun!). I did some research and found that they officially opened their doors just a few weeks ago on March 15th! Since I heard nothing but rave reviews about Shake Shack, I made it a point to try and visit on my next trip to LA. And lucky for me, that trip was just this past Sunday!
After making a few necessary stops to The Grove, we (Nancy and I) made our way over to Shake Shack, snagged a close parking spot, and waited in line. Since we’re Disneyland fanatics and frequent Comic-con, waiting in lines are like a piece of cake. We got there around noon, an hour after their opening time at 11AM, and waited no more than half an hour to 35 minutes to get in and took a look at their menu that offered everything from burgers, shakes, custard, and even beer! When it was my turn to order, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly and even gave me a high five when I told him it was my first time trying Shake Shack.
I ordered a Shack Burger, regular crinkle cut fries, and got a salted caramel shake. I received a pager that would beep when my order is ready to be picked up right next to where we ordered. After Nancy and I got a table, we waited about 15 minutes before our pagers buzzed. In excitement, I briskly paced over to pick up my food and was way too stoked to dive into it!
IT WAS TIME…
YOU GUYS… THE HYPE IS REAL! Here’s a rundown on my thoughts of what I ordered. The Shack Burger is the most basic, yet classic of burgers – cheese, lettuce, tomatoes (though I opted out of those), and their ShackSauce all on top of a patty and sandwiched in between a potato bun! All I can say is – YUM! The bun was buttery and delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. The fries were equally amazing and I’m not normally a fan of crinkle cut fries! They were the perfect amount of crispy and soft and were surprisingly very long too! As you know, burgers and fries go hand in hand, and well shakes are just an added plus!
I’m a huge fan of anything salted caramel and when they had so much variety on their menu, I knew I had to get their salted caramel shake. It was SO good! It was the right amount of salty and sweet, and the consistency of the shake was not too thick or too liquidy. So it’s no wonder why they call themselves Shake Shack… they do milkshakes justice! And if Kelis ran the place, it would definitely bring all the boys (and girls) to the yard.
Overall, I loved it! And I thoroughly enjoyed my first Shake Shack experience! I would definitely go back if I were in the area and maybe when one opens closer to home? Whichever comes first!
