My favorite time of year is coming around and I couldn’t be more excited! San Diego Restaurant Week (SDRW) is BACK and this time from September 23 – September 30. I had the pleasure to preview the SDRW menu at Greystone Prime Steakhouse & Seafood, a local steakhouse in the heart of Gaslamp in Downtown San Diego.
I am so excited because we got to try a little bit of both of their offerings – they have a $50 dinner menu and a $60 dinner menu! You can see their SDRW menu here.
First Course: From the various offerings they had, we ended up getting the Crispy Calamari and Big Eye Tuna. The calamari came with a tasty chipotle aioli that I loooved! And I don’t normally opt for tuna, but the way they prepared it wasn’t only super unique but tasted so fresh and had so much flavor! I really enjoyed these two appetizers!
Second Course: I ended up ordering the Bison Tenderloin, which came with a 10 oz. filet, poached pear, dry fig port reduction, and a crispy truffle risotto cake (this is from the $50 menu). Nancy got the 4 oz. Australian Wagyu (on the $60 menu). The two entrees were completely different and equally tasty.
I loved all of the flavors of the Bison Tenderloin I got, it was the first time I’ve tried bison and I did not expect it to taste so good! It doesn’t taste much different from a steak and paired with the risotto cake and flavors from the poached pear and fig reduction, it was such a nice treat. I enjoyed this meal a lot! I tried the wagyu for the first time (wagyu is supposed to be THE top of the top highest quality steak out there) and it was super good!
Third Course: They definitely saved the best for last! DESSERT! I got the New York cheesecake with a side of pistachio ice cream and Nancy opted for the Limoncello Sponge Cake!
You guys, this was the perfect way to end the dinner – everything was made to perfection. The cheesecake and ice cream was simple and made as the perfect portion. I tried the limoncello sponge cake and the consistency was amazing! I love anything lemon and it was the perfect marriage between sweet and tangy! Highly recommend both!
We had such a great experience! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch! I really loved the different options Greystone has for SDRW and it’s a must if you’re looking to dine at a quality steakhouse for an affordable price!
If you’re interested in checking out Greystone or any other SDRW participating restaurants, don’t forget to check out the website for more information! You’re bound to find something you love and within your budget!
*Special thanks to San Diego Restaurant Week and Greystone Steakhouse for arranging this dinner!
